I was wondering if anyone in MX5 land has some standard (but in good fettle) dampers or even an old (working) adjustable set that they're looking to get shut of on the cheap?

I have OEM springs ready to mate up to OEM dampers, but ideally would like it lower and stiffer...either way, my suspension has had it so thought I would ask here first before I continue my quest hehe

I have a pair of Kayaba Excel-G front dampers that I was going to just get shot of. They look pretty scabby but do still work. If you can't get a full set from anyone, then I'll clean them up and take some pics and if you fancy them, send them down just for the price of postage. They are manky looking though and I have no idea how old they are. I have the rears too, but they're completely shagged... hehe

Jag-D, weren't you considering Ebay specials? I might have got you confused with someone else.

But if not, I would recommend them!

Got a full(springs and damper...no top mounts) set of Bilsteins off my MK2 RS. Make me an offer they are just sat there in my garage at the moment.

I was, but some unfortunate turn of events coupled with him increasing the pricing means that it's going to be one hell of a struggle to do so, hence looking for used parts.

Howdo fella,

How were they on the road? I've heard billies can be somewhat unforgiving and a bit crashy???

What would be needed to fit them to a Mk1 NA?

I have the full set of standard springs and shocks off my 1997 1.8 mk1. However they had done over 100,000 miles when I took them off about 18 months ago. And they have been in a shed ever since. So life left is probably minimal. Plus you'd have to fight the spiders for them...

(Best sales pitch ever!)

They were fine on the road and the car was under 80k when I took them off and replaced with Spax coilovers. No idea on what you would need to fit to a mk1, I would imagine its a straigth fit and you would be able to use your existing top mounts, if not MX5 parts should have some for sale.

Not sure but I think to fit Mk2 shocks to a Mk1 you need Mk2 shock tops otherwise it will be on stilts. Could be wrong. Often am.

I've got a full set of springs and dampers off my Mk1. It's an '89 car but has only done about 50k.

The boots are a little duff, but they're free, and as far as I know, they're not too bad.

Cheltenham collection, or I can courier them for about £10.

ETA - If you want them, I'll be at the couriers later today, or possibly tomorrow.

If you would like them, pm me your name/address/tel. and I'll get them shipped off to you, can work out the shipping cost later.

I'll have them if you dont mind...even if I get the billies, they might do for a "do me over" set until I've got the bits
