Picked up my MK1 Eunos last night and am now going round soring all the small niggles. One of the things on the list is that the electric arial doesn't go down when the engine is switched off. I can hear the motor winding though. Is this a replacement job or is there a fix? Any help appreciated.

Usually its the white plastic cord teeth-ed type thing that comes off of it, or the teeth get churned up in the motor.

Pretty sure you can buy just the aerial on its own, without the motor unit.

To fit it, it's really easy.

Take off the top cap that prevents the aerial coming out completely.

Turn on the radio so the aerial motor winds itself out full, pull the aerial gently if it's stuck. You might find it shoots out the top!

To re-fit a new one, you might need to disconnect the aerial feed first.

The feed in the new aerial plastic bit.

Then, re-connect the aerial plug, if the ignition and radio are both off, it should try to wind in the aerial, pulling it all the way down.

Then re-fit the top cover.

When you turn it on again, the top cover prevents the aerial from shooting all the way out.

It's a 10 minute job, including head-scratching like Laurel and Hardy.

HTH.

Cheers for the reply. Will look out for a replacement then or maybe just replace with a stubby.
