Blue smoke after davos - stelvio, help!
Discussion
Hi guys, my first post on here but thanks for being so helpful after browsing here in the past!
Am am currently half way through a big road trip to and from the north of italy (via davos and stelvio of course! - pictures to follow) and whilst my NA made it very nicely over the alps, it has now developed a bit of a smoking habit.
It only happens if the car has been idling and then is revved fairly hard, and a puff off blue smoke pops out of the exhaust with that distinctive oily smell.
It's a K reg 80,000miles UK model, and has already had a recon engine (with around 15-20k on it), fully serviced with new radiator, disks, pads, shocks and springs before we left. So I really was hoping to have a trouble free trip! Previously it's had the exhaust replaced from the cat back - but the manifold and downpipe are starting to get a bit ropey.
Any ideas as to what the smoke could be due to (I've heard anything from exhaust manifold gasket to valve seals)? I'd really like to have some reassurance that this will be fine to sort when I get back to the UK, but thats another 1,200 miles away!
Thanks for your help!

Something in the back of my head is saying high oil pressure due to blocked breather pipe?
Blue on start up would the valve stem seals and oil pooling on the piston after you turn it off. But it's not that.
It only happens when you rev it hard. When oil pressure would normally be it's highest?

I suspect it may be piston rings or if you're really lucky PCV valve.
Having had dealings with 'engine reconditioners' 95% of them install any old crap cut out of a scrapper.
If you thrash most cars they use oil so if its used 1 litre in 1000 miles I wouldn't be too concerned.
Mine will lose a litre on a track day but doesn't lose hardly anything on the road.
Just keep topping it up.
