Are mk2 1.6's THAT bad??
Discussion
Its just, well, theres none actually sold at all in the classifieds, nor on fleabay.
Isnt the engine pretty much as powerful as the early mk1 1.6??
Are prices too high...? For an early one (1998/1999) with around 70k miles on the clock in decent nick, what level of sterling would you be willing to part with??

Early Mk1 1.6 = 114bhp, Mk2+ 1.6 = 110bhp so yes, the engines are roughly equivalent.
However, the reason the early 1.6 is pretty much as quick as the later 1.8 is because it's lighter. The Mk2 1.6 is the same weight as the 1.8 so is a fair bit slower.
That doesn't make them bad cars though as long as the price reflects it being the cheaper engine/model and you are aware of what you are getting.
