So long as your '5/Roadster has a slippy diff!

I did a drfting day at Silverstone with Caterham a few years back which was epic fun; you know you're going to have a good day out when the instructors tell you to drive their cars "like you stole it" smile

Is this possible without a LSD? Mine just seems to break traction at the front....

Hard work without one; with an open diff the inside wheel spins the power away.

However if you bounce it off the limiter while spinning out of control they do give you a bking... boxedin

There is a video of that doughnut session where it nearly got expensive. "Hello MX5, I am a brick wall, nice to meet you..." Brake! Brake!

Would be amusing to follow you in the MX5 mate, I am moving back to Leeds next weekend so we should go for a drive drivingsmile

Ah Doughnuts are very fun!

So easy too, I can start it sliding with abit of revs on any round-a-bout.. Though if you want it too it'll grip like anything.

And thats with very good rear tyres biggrin

I wasn't sure if I had one, until someone said the easiest way to tell is if you can doughnut easily.. Yep.

I was suprised at how easy it can just start them and keep going in circles as many times as you want biggrin

Oh no, trust me.. I dislike doing Doughnuts with tyres at £50 per side, but it was an empty airfield, I had just got it, and well, you know..

biggrin

oh yes, a while ago a friend and I had some fun trying to do similar things, him with a vlsd and me with an open diff. He looked like he was having fun, and no matter how hard I tried, my car just dribbled about looking like it wasn't working.

It is possible to drift with an open diff, but you have to be going 'much' faster for it to work, and I just don't have that kind of confidence/talent on the open road.

That's the problem, I haven't found anywhere yet where I can test if I have an LSD or not...empty roundabouts are easy to get the back out, but I don't think that's proof!
