Anybody know a good insurer who will include track-day cover at a reasonable cost?

I'm insured (fully comp) with Aviva for about £390 but they can't even spell "track-day". I previously had a Porsche insured for £600 with Allianz (through A.Manning) and that included track-day cover (with an excess of £3,000 when the car's used on a track).

I'm looking for something similar, but can't seem to find anyone who does this for MX5s. Hopefully someone on this forum has solved this problem and found a suitable insurer???

Not a customer, but somebody previously mentioned;

Who are on my bookmarks for when my insurance renewal comes up.

Sorry it's not a full recommendation, but maybe a start?

I'm insured with Royal Sun Aliance through AON and they cover the first 5 trackdays for free. However, the cover isn't great and it only covers recognised operators on real tracks so MoT and airfield days aren't covered.

I have recently moved over to REIS and taken their trackday cover. lightly modified MK1 MX5 (suspension and exhaust) I'm 27, 7y NCB, other half on the cover, limited to 7000 MPA, parked on drive in decent area cost me £340 (including MX5OC membership discount) this was cheaper than my renewal and any other standard quote i could find this year. they are not very fussy over modifications either which is good.

£250 Total Excess on the road
£1000 Excess on the track- allowed 4 track days per year which need to be registered with the insurance company prior to the event.

edit' MOT are included on their registered events organisers

Hope that helps

I'm insured with Highway through Herts Insurance Consultants, and it includes track day cover. Must admit I've not looked into what you get exactly, but I know it's there wink

I get 90 days European cover and driving of other cars third party too, which makes it a nice package all in all smile (I'm 23, most insurance companies don't offer DOC to under 25s)

Richard Egger, CCI, Heritage, Chris Knott all do trackday cover included and are generally mod-friendly.

With CCI currently, great deal, good policy which includes 5 UK days and thereafter it's a reasonable per-day cost. Give them a call. They'll also do single day track insurance quotes should you wish to compare that too.
