OK, problem.

I bought a s/h set of alloys to fit on my re-jigged '5, since all four tyres were completely shagged and I wanted new wheels anyway. Once tyre on the new wheels needed replacing. So, new tyre purchased, go to fit it, and the alloy is royally fked. Cracked through the centre, air leaking everywhere. Wheels will all now be returned....

I have a track day on Saturday.

I've asked around for a 'budget-decent' set of tyres, which can be mine for about £150 fitted and balanced to the existing very scruffy (but serviceable) wheels.

Realistically, I'll be looking for another set of alloys in the next couple of weeks, so they're going to get used once, maybe twice, before the whole lot gets replaced. Seems a bit expensive for a single track day, I'll never get my money back on them.

So, ideally I'm looking for a decent set of 15" alloys with tyres that are good enough for a single track day, or preferably more. Ebay is not being my friend.

Anybody got anything?

I would take the Maser instead, but the oil pressure sender is playing up (I hope - either that or it's a oil pump failure!), and I'm not 100% happy to rag it without a working pressure gauge.

At this rate, I'll be doing the track day in the Expert van or Landcruiser - not ideal!

Anybody have anything for sale? Out the back? In the shed? Want to swap? Cash? Sexual favours (within reason)?

Not too far from Cheltenham if possible, but happy to travel on Saturday morning!

Cheers!

Actually, I did think about stealing Mrs Masers Mk2.5 for the day, she (probably) wouldn't mind.

The reason I want to take mine is that I've recently had coilovers, decent seat, roll bar, harnesses, stiffening, brakes, etc. all done, and this will be the first shakedown.

If it was just for a fun blast around, I'd get the Maser ready instead....

Actually, I had thought of that already!

What a faff though, and I've got no decent parking to leave it on bricks, etc.

Might well come to that yet....

Nobody got any wheels?... Pretty please?

One jack per car? Won't it wobble a bit side to side with a jack at each end?

Lazy fecker I am not! hehe We're moving offices this weekend, I just shifted a 42U server rack up a flight of stairs on my own, plus more furniture and servers etc. to do tomorrow. And putting new furniture together.

I'd happily pay somebody to do all this, but people are generally such lazy buggers you can get things done in half the time for double the effort yourself. Path of least resistance and all that. I'd rather know it's done that be chasing somebody else all the time.

To be honest, Saturday is turning in to a PITA with everything else going on.

The print head exploded on my printer, £700 plus VAT for a new one. Maser oil pressure sensor faulty and a bugger to replace. New wheels for the MX5 cracked and buggered. Staff off sick at the worst possible time. I'm still waiting for something to go right this week. cry

SOMEBODY must have some wheels for sale?

Please please please!

I have 3 and three quarter alloys, no use to me as a quarter is at laid at a local roundabout somewhere...

3 are perfect, out of the 3, 1 has budget funboy ditchfinder on it, the other 2 are BF Goodrich, loads of tread, laid in my garage gathering dust.

I'm up North in West Yorkshire tho... You're welcome to them for beer tokens or such. Cant deliver tho, will be working tomorrow, home evening time, sat morning i'll be free too. Wheres your track day???

Would love to, just don't have time to do this and change them back over again. This weekend is hectic. I have to make sure three floors of offices are networked, furnitured, IP phoned and set up, cleaned, and ready to rock on Monday morning.

Plus, I'm pretty sure Mrs Maser is away on Saturday night, and the other tyres are totally knackered!

Ah, cheers for that. I've actually just spotted a set on fleabay that might do the trick.... Not far away from me, might be able to get somebody to collect them Saturday morning.

Time is my enemy. Boo, rubbish.

what's your budget mate?

i have a set in the garage that i was planning to use this year but can help you out for the right price.

they are 15" mazda alloys, the nice light ones from the mk2. the tyres are half worn Hankook RS2 (which get snapped up as soon as they become available) which are a fantastic track day tyre - near the grip of toyo R888 but more life and cope with cold and wet conditions better.

i'm in reading.

Sorry to the OP if this wuestion is a bit off topic

hi mate, i'm on KYB AGX adjustable dampers, Eibach springs, powerflex soft foam bumpstops (important when you're lowering, esp at the rear!!), FM uprated and adjustable ARB's and rose jointed drop links.

keep an eye on the nutz forum as they may be up for sale soon if i change over to a more comfy road setup.

alignment is a touch of toe in front and rear, 1.2 deg front negative camber, 1.8 rear, and as much caster as you can keeping it equal left to right. at least it was until the winter happened and the potholes knocked it all out...
