Rollbars - whatcha got, and who fitted it?
Discussion
I want a proper rollbar fitted to my RS Ltd before I get it on track. Something substantial that will give a good level of protection, and which can accommodate harnesses.
I've no time, skills or tools to do it myself, so a supply & fit deal is what I'm after, preferably in or around SE London.
Sadly Performance5 aren't able to supply and fit at the moment, so I'm researching other options.
Over to you PH'ers.

T.R. Lane GP roll bar (I think it is the GP... can't remember).
There is an option for a harness bar. I got this one off ebay and they are hand made to order. Got my local garage to fit, but it took them five hours!!! I would recommend going to a specialist like freelancemazda to fit - bit of a trip for you but worth it.

I have the same roll bar as above, but with the additional harness bar.
They're not overly complicated to fit, but they are time consuming. Mine took me well over 8 hours over two days including trips to pick up tools that I didn't have and didn't realise I'd need.
I could probably do it a lot more quickly now.

I got mine from ebay, about £170 if I recall. 4 point rollbar that fixes down with 14 bolts, I don't know who made it however.
It took me about 4 hours to do myself from start to finish - I reckon I could have done it in 3 if I had started off using the jigsaw first instead of messing around with the dremel.
Lovely bit of kit, the car feels much stiffer and the slightly wallowy feeling I felt before has gone. You couldn't attach harnesses to it, but there are sometimes roll bars that crop up on ebay which cater for such needs.
Hope this helps a bit.

The one above looks the same as the one in my old car (though mine used 16 bolts not 14?), my research when I got it suggested they were made (for the Jap market) by Cusco and another firm called Safety21 - some versions of that design have a harness bar as well.
Took most of an afternoon to fit from memory and I echo the sentiments about much improved chassis feel.
The concern I did have about that bar was the potential for taller folk (over 6ft) to hit the back of their heads on it in a rear-end accident if the seat was reclined much.

You are right regarding the number of bolts, now I think about it.The concern I did have about that bar was the potential for taller folk (over 6ft) to hit the back of their heads on it in a rear-end accident if the seat was reclined much.

I agree with the risk of taller people banging their heads - although this isn't a problem for myself hehe
