Hi,

Having had a MK3 2.0 Options Pack for a few months, I'm thinking of upgrading to a MK3 2.0 Sport I've seen, mainly because it has air con, leather, heated seats and Bose, all things I'd like.

I notice it also has Bilstein suspension and bigger (17") wheels, and a six speed gearbox, and I wondered if anyone had experience of the two cars and whether there was much of a difference in the way they drive?

Cheers,

Ari

Not all Sports have AC & Bose.
The 10 spoke 17" alloys are prone to corrosion, all mk3s look better when lowered ( at least in my opinion)

Hi
I have/had both option and sport cars. IMO the Billies are crap and you are better fitting after market suspension on your car. (Keep your car and fit suspension) Leather seats can be had seconhand for £500 fit them if you like. Wheels again buy some........

All of the above will probably be cheaper than changing your car, and the end result will be better.

Give me a call (Advice is free) I build race cars and often have seats/wheels etc available.....

But then you have the hassle of insuring a modified car rather than a standard car.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I drove the Sport spec car that I'm interested in today and it does definitely feel sharper than mine. I like the leather interior, love the seat heaters, and it had the (essential to me) air con/climate control and Bose hi fi (which sounds fantastic compared to the standard fit in my current car). Six speed gearbox is good too, just lets you drop the revs a bit on a fast cruise.

So, four months after buying my current car on the basis of "that's it, bought it to keep it", looks like I'll be changing it for this one!

Lol. Standard Sport is st, nothing on it is worth having, fit all these aftermarket bits instead. Oh and btw, give me a call as I can supply them all to you.

Just bought a private Mk 3 for the missus. It's a one owner, 2007 True Red 2.0 Sport with leather, heated seats, aircon, Bose upgrade and 4200 miles!!! It is superb and mileage, everything checks out with Mazda HQ.

It is a superb motor and the boss loves it.

Go for it.....you will not be disappointed and the insurance companies will not give you grief about after market add-ons.

Alright alright no need for the rolleyes. I wasn't aware the Option Pack car had LSD. So what does it miss out on then mechanically, Bilsteins/strut tower brace possibly?

Please guys don't take this the wrong way......I'm not trying to earn lots of money out of anyone.
Mx5's are not where I earn my wage, Quite the opposite. I'm only trying to help with my opinions.
