So the old girls been off the road for a few months and relaxing at the oldies place whilst I've been living in the smoke.

Whilst I remain in the smoke I thought that I should put her back on the road to keep her ticking over.

She should fingers crossed, pass the MOT. Tax is just under a couple of hundred.

Got an insurance quote recently and the robbing gits want a minimum of £450.00 to insure her now, with a £300.00 odd excess. (25 years old, Solicitor, 3 years no claims, licence held for 7 years, no FPNs, garaged in a good postcode etc). I was paying £300.00 a year ago with a £150.00 excess).

I know insurance has gone up recently but this strikes me as totally taking the piss.

Might have to go classic for £250.00 odd a year and then insure her properly in a years time to ensure I dont lose the NCB.

Bit miffed about this.

Just reinsured mine. Look on the moneysupermarket comparer: seem to be better deals there than elsewhere. Try Flux also.

Tried Flux for my new 370z (9 months old). 51 years old, clean licence all usual garage etc, best quote £1000 with £3000 excess.
Went to more than £522 with £450 excess. (Been a company car driver for a while).

Got More Than off confused website and then phoned them direct.
Worth a try

I'm pretty close to that description -

25 (24 when policy started) driving 7 years, no claims/accidents/point, all clean. 4 yrs NCB, and mine is £400 TPFT with 200 excess IIRC with Sky,

thats with a few mods, parked on driveway, decentish suburban area, and a Thatcham cat 1.

Speal to Ollie at Sky, hes the MX5 man apparently - and tell them your a member on MX5nutz and MX5 OC - you are, arent you!?

Interestingly Direct Line beat the coparison websites hands down for me on my 350z and the other halfs MX5. They did the best deal on house insurance as well.

looks like its peter best then. 200 notes. job done.

Not sure how much the lack of NCB will be a problem in a couple of years time if I fancy treating myself to a chim or a porker...

That said I would probably be able to get insured on an elderly bit of pork for around a grand or so, so hopefully if I go classic for a couple of years the savings will outweigh the loading on any other policy I may get..

I have been on the receiving end of Direct Line - A woman took me off my bike - TBone - Wouldn't admit fault until she was prosecuted for driving without due care. I still had to prove she was in the wrong by producing evidence of her conviction. Direct Line don't like paying out

Can not recomend them enough, not just because of the BIG drop in cost, but how professional and helpful they are.
I just hope that this helps a couple more owners out?
