Hi All,
Went and looked at a 1.8 Mk1 tonight. It's got completely fine outer sills and so one assumes that they have been repaired at some point recently.
However when poking around underneath - the inner sills have "some" rust. How hard is this to repair/cut out/weld etc?

The car has 11 months MOT and is very keenly priced - has anyone had similar work done recently and at what cost? Or is it not worth it?

Kind Regards

rfn

The MX-5 is very good at hiding the tin worm. If it has some rust then most liekly it is rusting from the inside out. Be prepared for it be much worse than you think. As you probably know the sills rust from the inside out because the drain holes get blocked.

MIne failed MOT on rusty sills last week. The sills appeared pretty solid to me too. If there is rust there they will probably need doing before too long. If its very well priced and you like the car, it could well be worth it though.
