hi, replacing all of the coolant hoses atm.. just wondering is it an engine undertray off jobby to get to the radiator bottom hose ( think its the bottom hose, the one connected to the rad and a metal pipe at the bottom) dont really want to take the undertray off if its not required..

also painting the daisies( winter wheels) narrowed it down to gold( like snijers manx winning m3) or just going mad an painting them orange.. its on a black mk1.. you thoughts would be appreciated.

cheers

undertray off - it's not a difficult job except for when the bolts shear...

as for wheels, b&q are doing half price on plastikote flourescent paints. i used the orange for my wheels but green is another option on a black car smile

You can drain the rad without removing the under-tray so if you can get to the hose clamps there is no reason why you can't replace the bottom hose with the tray in place.

?
Please fill me in to how this is done with the tray inplace, the tray as a hole in the drain screw in the bottom of the rad, so no problem there, bottom hose????lets see pic's of this being done.

tray on mine has a service hatch in it directly beneath the bottom hose to allow access. what year/model is yours? this is a 1.8 mk1.

I did my bottom hose not long ago without taking the undertray off. There is a small latch at the bottom which swings open to give you access to the bottom rad hose. That said, it is still a bit of a bd, especially if they haven't been changed in a while.

It makes it a bit easier if you take all the intake gubbins off and can get some grip from the top.
