Dear all

I've been a prat.

I've ordered new front brake calipers, discs and pads online and on reviewing the e-m from the supplier I see that I've ordered a driver's side caliper for a 1.8 Mark 1 (which is what I need) but a passenger side caliper for a 1.6 Mark2!

No idea how I managed to be so daft - probably because I looked at so many calipers from different suppliers.

Anyway - before I pull out hair I haven't got - are these likely to be exactly the same part anyway? So I don't really need to worry?

Someone please reassure me.

Thanks

Well MX5 Parts sell one part for Mk1 1.8 and all Mk2/2.5 which suggests they are the same part. I'd double check with whoever you bought them from though.

Thanks. That reassures me a bit.

It's too late to check with them as the parts are already on their way - but looking at their site again, they seem to be the same part no. So, I'll take some comfort from that too.

The 1.8 Mk 1 are the same as the Mk 2's, but not the same as the larger sports brakes fitted to some SE models in the Mk 2 range, the Mk 1 1.6 set up as far as i know? are not the same as the Mk 2's,1.8 and 1.6,it's the brackets that are different.

On Mk1 the 1.6 had smaller brakes than the 1.8. On Mk2 onwards 1.6 & 1.8 had the same brakes.
I thought the big brakes were just Mk2.5 Sport and some Mk2.5 specials...

It was a general quote of the Mk 2 range, but if we are going to get picky then the 2.5 range, SE:-SOME Special Editions had them or Sport Editions had the large brakes
And cost stupid money, and are not really any better than the 1.8 set up to be honest there is not much in it.
but as Lazza as said they are different sizes on the Mk 1
