How?
When I try, I feel like I'm going to snap my arm in half. Its the bit when you have to go over centre.

I'm not a weed of a guy! For example I have to hand crank my old racer, and that's a 3 litre 4 cylinder, so it takes some swinging.

So what am I doing wrong?

Just takes a bit of practice. However, it's a damn site harder with a rollbar. Nearly tore my arm off first time I tried it after fitting that.

Should I be trying with my left arm or right?

No rollbar, I preferred left. With rollbar obviously you can only use the right.

I tend to push myself up in the seat slightly to get a better angle.
Being short I probably wouldn't be able to do it otherwise! wink

I used to twist to the left and use my right arm and pull it back over. Rather than flapping my left arm back (as I was too much of a weed!!)

Use two arms or you'll end up with Tennis elbow like me!

I find it easiest to push my left foot on the footrest and it then gives you abit more leverage in your back, but I can do it from just sat in the seat.

I'm not particually tall but not a weed either.

Left Hand, Reach over backwards (as if you are a girl about to through a Tennis Ball hehe ) and slip your fingers under the Front rail (as opposed to the actual moulded handle), and in a swift action raise it.

Admittedly doing it at 50mph does strain the arm a little, but at standstill ?

TBH though it must be muscle memory thing - when U try to do it from the passenger seat with my right Arm, I struggle.
I do it like that, but have to get my elbow over the roll bar.

Sometimes the roof raises on a skew & jams about a third of the way up- makes me look like a right wimphehe

So true.

With the rollbar fitted I grab it with the left arm, bring it up to where it meets the bar and then switch to my right arm to complete.

Used to be able to do it fine just with my left arm but I preferred to swivel in the seat, grab it with both hands and pull up since it was much easier and just as quick/easy.

I should say I have a TR Lane rollbar fitted now, not the style bar in the profile pic.

I can't do it on mine. Glass rear window, makes it much stiffer/tighter to get off the rear deck frown

You load of wusses. I am weedy as fk. And right handed.
And I can do it with my left arm in one fluid motion while parked pointing up the very steep hill I live on.

I can't do it with my left arm, I have to twist my body round and use my right arm. Strange I know hehe
