Nardi steering wheel/dull paintwork
Discussion
I have just sold my FTO and picked up a K reg V spec mx-5, for a bargain, bargain price!!! The paintwork has not been cared for so needs a once over, I am planning on the following; wash, clay, meguairs paint cleaner, polish then wax, have I missed anything??
Also how do you remove the nardi steering wheel, I am not selling it but need to re-align it....cheers

If it's the early type just pop the horn push out and you should be able to see the 21mm nut, crack the nut and undo it all the way off,and then just put it back on a couple of turns with your fingers, pull and push the wheel at the top and bottom and then rock it at the sides until it braeks free from the spline onto the finger tight nut and not your chin or face.
If its the later type you will need to remove the centre ring first, they are stuck down with double sided tape if it as never been removed before? and then it is as above
Hope this helps

Hi Swansea, the routine sounds fine but remember to use the two bucket method. I got my paint almost perfect by hand, but it was very hard work. I still need to do a write up, but basically after claying I found Autoglym paint restorer followed by Poorboys polish was the best combo... then whatever sealant or wax you have.

Cheers for that, wheel finally came off and is now aligned up. Bodywork and slow windows next!!!
Go to halfords and pick up a can of there own brand silicone lube spray(yellow tin with a gray lid),remove the door cards and start the engine, drop the window down and spray the felt/rubber window channel and bring the window back up.Next pull the plastic to one side and spray the bottom half of the run, then bring the window up and down about 7'ish times, while you have the door apart spray all the pullies, locks and door handle,it should free everything up and no frozen locks for you this winter.
And then just do the same on the other side, job done ,happy days.
