Hi there

I'm looking for a hard top for my MX5 (mk1). I'm not too bothered on colour as I'm not that bothered what it looks like! Anyone know of one for sale for not an obscene amount of money?

Cheers

Been watching prices myself, they all seem to go for £300 or so on eBay and are sought after.

Suppose you might get lucky if there's a hardtop wearing one in a scrappy?

Keep an eye open on the usual places: MX5Nutz, MX5OC and ebay. Something will turn up eventually.

A mate of mine is selling his green one - he wrote his car off (frontal damage only and fairly minor) and removed the hard top before it was towed away, do you want me to give him a nudge?

Don't be silly Lazza, to get a hardtop! hehe

I have to agree, partly.. I do love the look of my car with the roof on but windows down, that looks cool.. But so does roof off.

Last winter I considered getting a hard top but after the appaling summer we have had this year I am hoping I can get some open air motoring during the winter months.

Having been a biker for the last 10 years (never owning a car during that time) I find it a joy to ride on a lovely crisp winters day when there isn't a cloud in the sky. OK, it might be a bit cold but a nice thick coat on and a good hat willl keep you cosey and warm with the top down.

I am looking forward to my open top winter driving.

In my opinion, the only reason to have a HT is if you need to park it in a dodgy area where a soft-top might get slashed. Having said that, hard-tops do get stolen...
The heater on the MX5 is fantastic and with a wind-blocker, a hat and a warm coat with a bit collar driving top down all year round is fine, in fact I prefer it in winter to summer as I don't really like getting baked by the sun.

The same reason I bought the S2k. They don't make a coupe frown
