Are your windscreen wipers rubbish?

A bit of vinegar on newspaper is the best thing for cleaning wipers and windscreens. If that doesn't work then just replace them, it's not expensive. I only replace the blades rather than the whole wipers these days though.
interesting! I've not heard that one before, I'll give it a shot, ta.Mellow Matt said:

My wipers are OK but the squirters are rubbish: does anyone know how these work? The squirter motor makes a noise but almost nothing comes out: and the bottle's full and I've cleaned through the pipes so it's not that...

Ah ok ta, I did use the freebie that came through the door, so that's ok.

I had this happen on my 106 - I'm trying to remember what was wrong...! I think I had to replace the pump? I have a feeling something was blocked perhaps, but wasn't able to unblock it. I had the same symptoms as you though - got the noise but didn't get much water.
I have these on mine: http://www.piaa.co.uk/wipers/wipers.asp coupled with liberal doses of Rain-X.

Hi, this is the best answer. Rain X is brilliant. Make sure you thoroughly buff it off with a microfibre of it can leave smears on cold mornings and in direct sun situationsJob jobbed.
Even better than Rain-X is Ombrello. Lasts 6+ months, and you don't even need wipers at anything more than about 30mph.
Excellent stuff. I use it on the side windows and rear window too

About a month back I completely re-plumbed my washer system. I bought a few metres of tubing, 2 new generic jets and some t-pieces and connectors. I took the bottle out, cleaned it out, cleaned out the motor/pump etc. Rebuilt the whole system and it works much better.I also made sure to add in a heated section - making a little heat exchanger wrapping the tubing round the cabin heater inlet hose. This is great and means your second squirt or so is hot foamy water, good for getting flies off.
