Just got back from a trip to purchase my 1st MX-5. Just racked up 100 miles in it and they are brilliant fun!

It's a 1992 1.6 se in black with tan leather interior.
My god though, the rust! It was cheap but I wasn't expecting that much. I need to replace both front wings, tidy the sills up a bit and sort some rust in the boot.
I'll get some pics up soon!

Congrats smile

They are a lot of fun, get yourself on some kind of airfield/trackday and then you'll be able have even more of a laugh!

Hope the rust isn't too bad - if there's rust within a few inches (?) of the seatbelt mounts it can be an MOT failure I believe.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "tidy up the sills" on an MX5. If there is any sign of rust on the outside it will be rotten on the inside and will need the rusty sill cutting out to replace the rusty section inside. They aren't all that bad but assume the worst and be happy if it's not so bad.
How cheap?

The sills have already been done, it's just not that clean of a job, just want to tidy them up a bit better. There's no rust near the belts which i'm glad about it's just the front wings that look a bit bad frown £875 biggrin I did a fair bit of research before buying so I knew what I was getting into but I'm really happy with it!

Great news. smile

Just getting into ideal MX5 weather too - frosty mornings and wet evenings wink
