I'm thinking of saving up over the next year and maybe getting an MX5/Eunos Mk.1 at some point in 2011.

Thing is, I'm only 19 (likely to be 20 then) so insurance will be steep through the usual avenues.

Is it possible to get a classic policy on the earlier ones?

Does anyone here have theirs insured with a classic insurance policy?

TIA.

You can get classic cover on the early models as i have with mine but i think you have to be at least 25.

There are usually a lot of rules regarding classic car insurance that makes it less suitable for many people such as restrictions on where you can park it and limited mileage. I used classic car insurance once but won't bother again as it just didn't work for me.

I find them excellent about 3rd of the normal price, had a 911 a couple of years back and cost was £150 a year fully comp !

I'm in a similar position, I have cash sitting for an MX5 but can't get decent insurance for one.

I've heard that even though Flux and other companies state over 25 on their website that some will quote if you ring up. I haven't tried this myself yet though so I can't be totally sure.

I've been with Flux for the last 2 years (1st year 106, 2nd year mx-5) and I'm only 24 now, so they're worth a call. My current insurance is about £440 I think, with 5yrs NCB, kept outside in NW London.
