So a lot of you seem to be running Toyo proxes - does anyone not recommend them?
They seem to be a cracking price here >>> here
Anything else I need to know?
thanks.

The only problem I've had with them was on a dry trackday where the tread was rather prone to melting eek

On the road they are fine and at a wet Cadwell I managed to get past a M3, so they must have been working pretty well there smile

They are pretty much the default on MX 5s - there are better tyres - Uniroyals, Michelins for example, but as VFM they are very good (although they'll not last very long, which does offset their initial low price, somewhat).

Sorry to high jack the thread, but I was about to post something similar.
What is the best tyre in terms of grip and handling for a mk1 MX5. For various reasons I want to stick to the original size, 185/60 - 14.
The car only does a low milage so not too worried about how quickly it wears out or anything else like that.

In 14s? Bridgestone ER300s, probably.

Yes, its the 14's that are the issue. I know that by going up a size there would be a lot more choice. However, the car is completely standard & I wish it to remain that way.

I went for Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response. It seemed to be the "sportiest" tyre I could find in the size a while back. Not too bad on price either.
