Metal roof or shooting brake conversion for mx5 ?

they make that hard top, but it isnt metal like the user requested... and that is an american company i dont think they would ship to europe.
however there are a number of companies that make cages for a miata...
There is a lot of improvement to be made to the miata chassis, but i doubt that welding a top from something else onto it would help much, it wasnt designed to have a metal top on it.
If your looking to improve chassis rigidity, look into seam welding the chassis and frame rails. You could also look into caging your miata.
The roll bar will not improve stiffness of the chassis.

I love the look of this hardtop-

I have no idea who it is made by or anything about it, but it is rather cool!
ETA Does anyone know what wheels they are?
I wonder whether my car would look good like that (minus the roof)?
Is it just me or does that stop you opening the boot?I have no idea who it is made by or anything about it, but it is rather cool!

Just had a thought, wasn't there a MX5 Coupe for the JD market?

I'd think you have more chance of buying unicorn spunk than finding one.

There were a few variants of the Mk2 coupe that went into limited production - Type S, Type A and Type E. They do come up for sale in Japan reasonably often but they fetch good money over there, so, coupled with the dreadful exchange rate you'd end up paying a fortune by the time you got one to the UK. I haven't imported anything since the IVA rules came into play so I couldn't say if it would even be possible to register one here.
There were also a few 'TS Coupe' concepts:

I think Mazda had them made by Monocraft and they eventually allowed Monocraft to sell complete cars (as the MM1) but there were only a handful made:

As far as the Mk1 is concerned, there have been a few semi-official coupe concepts but nothing ever made it into production:

M2 also had a go but again, I don't think they sold many (if any):

May have to look into those in a few months.

Very stupid question but...
Is there anyone who fit and weld the metal roof or sport estate roof onto mx5 ?
like this to improve the NVH and stiffness in body shell?
Failing that. Do full rollcage or rear ones improve the stiffness?
I am not big fan of convertible.

Try having a look at http://www.trlanefabs.co.uk/default.html range of chassis braces and roll cages, both will help out with rigidity. Is there anyone who fit and weld the metal roof or sport estate roof onto mx5 ?

I wouldn't expect any of the available hard tops to do anything since they just bolt on using the soft hood fixings.

In my experience a rollbar (ie with rear braces, not just a stylebar) makes a noticable improvement to the Mk1 chassis.Gassing Station | Mazda MX5/Roadster/Miata | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
