Oil on hoses - terminal?
Discussion
Another MOT passed yesterday without incident. Not even a single advisory. The best the tester could do was complain my front numberplate was a bit loose. I love my mx5
Anyway whilst I gave her a quick insection pre MOT, I noticed the rocker cover gasket has let some oil by and some has got onto the very end portion of a brake pipe. It's just before the hardpipe emerges and attaches to the firewall. I am guessing the hard pipe remains underneath the rubber?
I already have a new gasket to put on (had it 2 years lol) by just wanted to know if oil gets on a Pipe can I clean It up with WD40 and leave it, or will it need replacing in the near future as the rots set in ?
Cheers
Steve

Are talking about the pipe at the back of the engine? If so, you'll find that's from the clutch master to slave. No issues with the oil or using WD to get it clean again.

Hi PhilHTH
Phil
It may be the clutch master to slave pipe - i didnt make too much of a note to be honest.
I'll give it a good clean up with some WD40 then. I just thought i read some time ago about oil leaks perishing pipes round the back and causing additional problems etc

Cheers
