Insurance Renewal
Discussion
I have got the insurance renewal through for my MX5, and am struggling to find a lower price anywhere!
I am currently with Admiral on a 10 month policy which is costing 831 a year(the renewal price) but i can't seem to find anywhere that will quote anywhere near this price, or even near 900 which it should roughly be for a 12 month policy.
Are there any insurance companies that are normally good with MX5's?
I have already tried adrian flux and they couldn't get any lower that 1100, and i tried HIC who couldn't get lower than 4.5k!!!
Good point to add, is that i am only 19, so a lot of specialists probably won't touch me because of this.
Any help would be appreciated

mines due in may i am going to try footman james although i wont hold my breath - their online quote came in at £831!! Admiral came in around the £300 mark for the last years cover and prior to that it was an awesome £220!
Something tells me we're all in for a shafting one way or another...

Always found Direct line to be the cheapest. My MX5 1999 1.8 fully Comp for £382 per year however I am 42, not 19. I also insure my BMW X5 4.6Is with them which some companies will not touch for reasonable money even though it has a tracker fitted.
Don't know what sort of miles you do or age of the car but you could try a classic car policy with limited mileage etc etc???

only companies I could find who would insure mine at 23 were greenlight or sky, thats a Eunos not a UK one though.
Be aware with the Eunos, if you put the Reg in to a lot of the online ones they don't recognise it as in import, I did this with Churchill and didn't realise, I later querried it as it came as a 2000 reg car on the insurance certificate when it was a 1990 car and they said they weren't aware it was an import and wouldnt have insured it.
So turned out my insurance would have been invalid for the 6 months I was driving it.

Right tried a few more, sky was 1470 i think it was, so that is a no. Flux were 1100, still too much.
Had a few places turn me away.
So at the minute it is still cheaper with Admiral, just waiting for A plan to get back.
I notice footman james has been mentioned though, but on their site they seem to say they dont insure people my age. Is this actually the case or is it different if i go through the owners club?
