The relentless banging on about the MX5 on these forums I want to try one out for myself.

But with a budget of 1,000 quid can I get one that will actually work, be fun and sell on in 6-9mths for what I paid?

Anyone got one for sale, surely we must all be driving them!

Reckon a early 90s Eunos 1.6 would be the best bet but lots look very tired in this price range.

Anything else I should be spending my grand on smile

Sub £1000 can be bought, ebay might be your best bet, but keep an eye out on the fourms (Nutz, MX5OC, PH etc) for sales. This might be a possibility http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/24550.aspx

We paid £750 for the PlanetMX5 Motorsports 1.6 Mk1 Roadster. It was a steal at that price as it was actully in very good condition under the dirt & grime.

Bought mine for a grand....

94 1.8, 94,000 miles on the clock, FSH history, Just serviced with New exhaust and hood, Years MOT. Apart from a small rip in the drivers seat and The sills showing signs of work needed doing in the future its in fantastic condition.

I have a years Motoring out of it, add £200 for insurance and £200 for TAX for £1400 I have some weekend fun. :-)
Its can be done (and has been!! :-) )
