Recommend me an insurer
Discussion
- Eunos (import)
- a couple of minor mods (wheels, steering wheel, air filter)
- business use required so classic insurance not really a goer (apparently you can't use a classic every day
)
Currently with Chris Knott, renewal £460 which seems a bit steep (decent postcode, 36yo, no points). A-Plan beat it by twenty quid but CK won't match.
Here you go guys, I think he was called Ollie.

Flux not that great a quote last year, plus I have a deep seated mistrust of them!
As I Said - Sky insurance basically offered me the same price as my renewal with Flux - except the policy was much better - no mileage limit, more lenient on mods, more useful personal cover/legal stuff, understood what the car actually was etc etc.snotrag said:

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Flux pissed me off last year by canceling my policy for not submitting a proof of no claims, despite them having been my insurer for the last 4 years! Due to this I also lost the remaining few months on my policy costing me about £100.Other companies I'm trying are struggling to understand the mods and just not covering me, or not explaining what I need to declare properly.
Although you didn't specifically mention, I'm guessing Sky can cater for trackdays too if so needed?

I'm with AON (whoever they use - is it still Royal Sun Alliance?) and they include free track-day cover. However, I rarely use it as it needs to be and a recognised track (i.e. not an airfield), through a recognised track day operator (i.e. not Mazda on Track though Lotus on Track is fine - go figure) and the excess is something like £1800 or 10% of the car value, whichever is higher so barely worth bothering with for most cars. I believe Flux are pretty much the same.I'm coming up to renewal at the end of March, so i'll be trying some of the companies mentioned above.
Aviva gave me a cracking deal last year on my import mk1 with a few mods - bodykit, exhaust, alloys (cheaper than insuring a uk mk1 - i clarified this 3 TIMES with the guy on the phone as i nearly fainted).
I found flux & sky really pricey, and no one else specialist would insure me as under 25, churchill wouldn't insure me as i had a modified car.
I'm waiting for aviva's renewal before starting the painful hunt once again. I believe those who wouldn't insure me for being under 25 last time around might do this time, as i'm less than 2 months off being 25, and one i spoke to last year said they would insure me this year (can't remember who now!)
Happy hunting.
