I would not rebuild unless it's cheaper. I doubt it will be. Edit: Doh just realised you are a MK3. I guess a rebuild might be cheaper as there may be less engines kicking about... let us know which way you go!

MX5 breakers who might have your engine available.

Or generically for Jap engines.

Talk to Paul Roddison, 07770 566 599
Garage is based just round the corner from Meadowhall, Sheffield (ok, not quite local but it's specialist advice you are looking for).

There's 5 Speed who are based in Nottingham (Hucknall), and they're MX-5 specialists. Definitely worth a call since they're local:

Remember - you might have some luck searching for anywhere with Ford Duratec experience - as the Ford duratec is essentially an engine pinched by Mazda...?

And theres Fast-ford specialists in every town isnt there?

If it's not too painful, could i ask why an '06 car needs an engine rebuild? Was it a premature failure of any components, or something else?

Was it a cam-chain damper failure? If so it's not the first...

Hi Guys
Just found this thread, And thanks for the recomendations.

The car has been run low on oil and suffered crank failure.(you must keep oil level on full mark) I would re-build the engine but I'm going on hols 12th to 29th march and then our race's start the week after.......
