Clutch Replacement...

Got stuck on a slip road onto the A23 with no hard shoulder and had to boot it when a gap in the traffic finally appeared - revs rose but car didn't quite respond as expected...! The biting point was rather high anyway and this has pretty much finished off the friction plate I suspect.

I would normally just fit a new clutch myself, plus it'll give me an excuse to get under the car and sort the rattles but I'm quite busy with work at the moment, so i'm not sure when I would get a chance to do it. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it would cost to get a garage to replace the clutch for me?

I'm loath to have to do this as I hate passing my cars over to someone else to do any work - had too many bad experiences years ago - and would much prefer to do it myself but if the price isn't ridiculous and there's a garage that isn't staffed by hammer wielding morons then I would consider, shock horror, paying someone to do it. Also... If I do find the time to diy it, then does anyone have any handy hints 'n tips to share. I've replaced clutches before on mini's (the proper ones ) and lots of aircooled VW's so I know how to do it but any MX-5 specific oddities would be handy to know.

I have literally just had the clutch done on the other halfs 5 for the grand total of £295 suppplied and fitted. Didnt think that was a bad price myself.
