Once that have had the sills done and ones that need them doing.....

Would people say that mine is now one of the latter?

Any ideas on cost (rough) and someone in South Yorkshire area to do them?

One side

And t'other

Yer they do, was there 2 weeks ago asked him and they said they'd done quite a few recently, said the customer was very impressed with the repair.. looked at soem of the work steve was doing on one of his project cars and he was doing a fair bit of welding for that.

Most of which have been here for 10 years or more so therefore not much better than UK cars.

MX5 motors from me as well

They did good work and it didn't cost the earth (£125 i think), but that may depend on how far gone it is.

Shameless bump on this one.

Just got a quote from someone local and well respected.

£500ish - cut out both bottom sections, remove any rusty innards, reweld a new section in, grind away higher up the wing and restructure, respray both rear wings, and touch up a couple of little other niggly paint bits, then rebuff and polish entire car.

Is there more rust in the sills that it looks in the pictures? If it's just a bit around the edge of the arches and a bit on the end of the sill that sticks into the wheel arch then it's nothing structural and nowhere near an MOT fail. If that's the case then I'd just rub it back, apply rust treatment and fill/spray where needed.

Thea nearside is pretty bad, its running along the underside of the sill that you can't see in the pictures.

Its also quite high up on the arch, the paint work hasn't broken yet but you can feel it bubbling underneath.

Offisde isn't as bad.

The number of rust-free imports is dropping rapidly. From what I've seen there is little difference between UK & JDM cars now.
