I have now found a CLK230 1997 breaking for parts, the supercharger is still available, i believe these are the m62 superchargers and already have the pulley with clutch on them, i am just wondering if anybody else has fitted this and if so, what was rough cost and power output and difficulty to fit?

No-one that I am aware of has fitted a Merc M62 charger to an MX5. IIRC the nose section is quite long/large due to the clutch.

Difficulty is dependant upon how adept you are at making brackets that will accurately locate the charger so that the belt will run true.

And to be able to design something that will activate the clutch...

I guess a clutch actuated SC would solve some of the "parasitic losses" issue when off boost but it will add a chunk of weight and a hell of a lot of complication. It might also be cool to be able to switch the SC on/off so you could effectively have it running na if you wanted and just witch it on when you want some extra performance. It would be an interesting project though I suspect the fact that nobody has done it before means that it might be quite a lot of work and possibly not possible.
