Does anyone happen to have one kicking around they want rid of? After laying mine up for the winter, i've had a bit of water ingress & ended up getting into the ECU.

Where is the best place to get a replacement, and what else do I need to know (Chassis number, etc...)?

Thanks in advance smile

If it is an early 1.6 you will require a b63h ecu, you can find them on ebay ranging from £20-£125,
Or you could purchase a megasquirt pnp (plug and play) ecu if you are going to be tuning the engine.

Not sure what the difference is between the early uk spec 1.6's and the jdm ones.

My JDM MX5 1.6 came with a u.k spec ecu as the previous owner removed his aftermarket ecu and couldnt source a JDM one, i personally didnt notice any change when i fitted the correct B63H ecu that it was suppose to come with.

Autolink will have what you need I would have thought, best to call as they have more than what their site shows I think. Decent company too.

More problemsfrown

Any ideas what could cause the engine to rev out at 4000rpm at full throttle, but rev through to the red line on partial throttle?

The auto electrician checked and cleaned them up, apparently all good. It's almost like the timing is out, popping back through the air box. I put new leads on it, and the plugs look ok.

Any help? Thanks in advance smile

Possibly a dodgy throttle position sensor. If it's a Mk1 they basically have 3 settings, close, open and WOT. It could be that it's stopped sending a WOT signal so the ecu thinks it's at idle...

I don't think so but they would be cheap to replace from somewhere like MX5 Heaven or Autolink. Test it first though, it might be something completely unrelated wink

p.s. No I don't know how to test it but as it's basically a 3 position switch it can't be difficult...

weeping It's back to the ECU now.

Autolink suggested it was a possibility that the bottom pulley has slipped around knocking the timing out. He seems adament that its the ECU. And has supposedly popped it in another Mk1 and it has the same problems.
