Eunos exhaust vs mk1 mx5 exhaust
Discussion
My exhaust was blowing so I took it to a local garage to get it replaced. They ordered in a new exhaust (the section from the cat backwards, including the backbox) after looking over the car and noting that it was a Eunos - they reckoned it's the same part for the Eunos as the Mk1 mx5, which I thought as well.
However, when I took it in the next day they mounted the exhaust only to find that it didn't fit properly, and they set about welding an extra inch or 2 of pipie between the link pipe and the cat to make it fit. They then said that this was because they'd ordered a normal exhaust, not a Eunos exhaust (I was skeptical, and think they've just f
ked up).
They finished the job and I drove it off - all seemed well. I've noticed this morning though, that the bumper around the exhaust tip has now melted, as the exhaust can move around a fair bit and touch the bumper.
Obviously I'm pretty pissed off at this - is it the case that they've f
ked up and bodged a non-mx5 exhaust onto my car?!

There's 3 different lengths of CAT, and I think 2 different lengths of down pipe. So it's not just "An Exhaust for a MK1 MX5". But you need to work out which exhaust you require.
Is it perchance a 1996 or later car?
Ah ok, so maybe they've not screwed up as much as I thought - my car's a 1994 1.8 S Special. Is it perchance a 1996 or later car?
So it should be the more common fitment if it's a 1994.
The options on this page basically lay it out. 2 of the CAT sizes take the same exhaust, and later cars (with the 3rd cat size) need a different one.

OK, thanks for that.
So they just ordered the wrong length one, so that's not so bad. However, the fact it's swinging around and melting my bumper is annoying!
Does anyone else's exhaust wobble around a lot, or have problems with melting bumpers?! I'd never checked it previously, so I don't know how much free play there should be...

I had a replacement 1994 mx-5 exhaust purchased from Euro Car Parts through a local garage - Fitted perfectly and looks identical to the placement of the previous exhaust; mine is a Eunos too but they just ordered an mx-5 part if I recall. Not sure what the issue is, mine was bolt off, bolt on to fix.
