Interior light on when doors closed?

Quick question for the learned 5ists...

My mk2's interior light stays on when the doors are closed, when set to the middle setting. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Does it still do it if you press the little button on the door shut?

Do you mean the little locking switch by the handle? The drivers side one had got problems - it's flapping freely, although the car still locks and unlocks ok. Is the light related to this?

Update:

Somehow, and I don't know how, poking about with a screwdriver in the handle mechanism has fixed my original problem!

Just got to fix the locking handle thing now...
