Off to look at a MK1 tomorrow, what should I look out for?

Three things: rust, rust and rust!

Bottoms of cills - particularly in front of the rear wheels

Check the sills for rust. Buget a couple of quid if it'll need them replaced in the next year or so. Check the roof doesn't leak. Enjoy.
