I have a Mk. 2 10AE. I was considering buying some alloys with summer tyres from someone. The tyres in question are Hankook Ventus Primes, has anyone had these and what did they think of them?

Also with the 6 speed gearbox when I have my foot off the accelerator and then push the accelerator the gear stick moves slightly at the start. Is this normal, or is there something wrong with the car?

The gear stick goes directly into the gearbox. The gearbox is connected to the engine. It's completely normal for the gear stick to move with the engine. Can't help with the tyres though.

I guessed it might be, which is why I didn't ask in a seperate thread, but I thought I should ask just in case. Still learning a lot about the car and how to look after it properly/ what warning signs to look out for. Unfortunately there's very few people I know around here that are enthusiasts that I can talk to in person.

Thanks, smile

Hi,

I have Hankook Ventus Primes on the rears of my Mk3. They are perfectly good all rounders and they seem to be lasting well. They let go with plenty of warning and seem to slide very progressively. Not sure if I'll put them on again as I may try something else but they certainly aren't ditchfinders. smile

if your engine mounts are worn out then you'll get a lot of gearstick movement although i'd be surprised if that was the case

I have Ventus Evo V12 on my Mk1 - same as the Ma5da racing guys. Cheap and very underrated. Not sure about the ones you posted about though...

I have V12s on my MX5 and RS2s on the integra, Been impressed with both, RS2 has alot more grip but obviously costs alot more as well!

Barely got the release agent off the V12s before the car parked itself up for the winter so not done many miles, i went for them over the proxies as they basically melted when i used them on track, i figured if the race boys use them they should be more durable?!

V12 Evos are quite well liked by the Clio 182 boys as a good replacement for the OE Pilot Exaltos (my dad had a couple put on my mum's old 182 and they seemed pretty good on that), I'd certainly be keen to try them, along with T1Rs.
