New owner, have a couple of questions
Discussion
I have just bought a mk1 and have had it a couple of days, the intention was to sell it on but I am really enjoying the car at the moment, the condition is ok needs a bit of work but on the whole I am pretty happy with it. I have however nearly lost my tax disc already with the roof down so was wondering what the best sort of holder is for it so it doesnt fly away? Also this is where my real dilema is, I cant decide weather to keep this one and do the work to get it right or buy one with a better spec, the one i have has no central locking, no power steering, no abs, no electrics so its pretty basic. Now I actually quite like that about it but if I am going to be putting money into would I be better buying with a better a spec? any opinions would be good, thanks
Not tried one without pas, but mine has it and it doesn't take a single thing away from the driving experience. My Westfield had no pas and it doesn't feel much different on the move in the MX5.
As for tax disc holders, I have one of those sticky anti-tamper ones.A hurricane won't shift it.

I tried a couple with no PAS and I found that when the car is moving there isn't a huge deal of difference, the PAS gives it a little more 'life' around the centre position and feels a little more supple on the turn in. When you're going slowly though, the non-PAS models feel heavy and clumsy to steer in comparison. These tests are by no means specific but it left enough of an impression with me to know what power streeting was a must for me in the car I bought.
With regards to having ABS, my car does but it isn't very intrusive at all. I trigged it a couple of times braking hard in the wet when I first had the car and even with very thin soled shoes you won't feel much of a response in the pedal. It's there if you need it but it doesn't spoil the experience if pressing on.
