Forgot to post this from a few weekends ago but was just reminded by the seat height thread.

Was having my exhuast done at a local MX mod day and one of the guys pulled the seat out to
do the foamectomy (really nice free mod btw!) and discovered my seats had these in the bottom.

They didn't seem to work, but I assume this was a factory option or maybe something they had
on the S specials. They are made by Pioneer.

Assume they were bass or rumble things, aye.

Car is a Eunos S model from 1992.

Bass thumpers. They work just like speakers. Have you tried wiring them in to see if the work?

Didn't try to find out why they didn't work mate, no.Not sure they would be much good now anyway if the original door and headrest speakers were anything to go by!

Foamectomy = remove a layer of foam/sponger from the seats. It's still perfectly comfortable but turns it into more of a supportive bucket seat...all for free biggrin

Surely that's an option targeted at the female driver? wink

Wasn't that called something like 'sensory sound system'?

No this was an added bonus on top of that. The SSSSS or whatever it was called just meant it had headrest speakers.

http://www.miata.net/garage/msss.html

That suggests 'thumpers' were the SSS package.

Is there a 'how to' on the foamectomy anywhere?
