Is UK registering virtually impossible with a lack of docs

I might have the chance of a 1995 Corvette that’s been here for (unknown) years but would have to take it with not a lot else but a purchase reciept. It’s a non running project that belonged to a friends relative. They seemingly have a family trade contact who could give me the purchase reciept (not sure if a receipt from a trader is any better a help than a hand written receipt).

It’s the lack of the NOVA part that’s the big issue isn’t it, if the car hasn’t ever been declared as arrived in the UK which I suspect it hasn’t..

I’d be able to get confirmation of the vehicle year/a manufacture date ok from the UK corvette club.

Is it likely to be possible to register or a non starter (probably like the car..😆) headache regarding registration because of no import info?

Contact Kingstown Shippers at Hull, they will sort a Nova for you.
You will need a Dating certificate from a club ( an NCRS report wont be accepted by the DVLA which frankly is ridiculous )
Will also need a purchase receipt, plus photos of the car & its Vin number.
Currently going through this with my Camaro

As said, you'll need info from a DVLA recognised UK based Owners Club.......I presume that would be the Classic Corvette Club UK?

My wife is a member of the Corvette club UK, only about £50 for the year.

Wife has a C8, got to say they have all been super friendly and very knowledgable at all the shows we have been to.

I’m sure someone in the club must have been in the same situation or similar. I’m sure they would help out, or at least point you in the right direction.

If you want I can get my wife to email a link to this thread to the club, see if they know someone who can help.

It’s good, certainly seems possible to get all the necessary done to register. I don’t entirely understand how you can get round the NOVA but it seems possible. I’d have thought you need import docs for this for the time of import (anyone?)

Kingston can help ok. Someone fairly local has offered to do it all too, including registration. I only realised a few days ago that you need an MoT too. The party gave me the impression he’d just “get it done” and never mentioned MoT necessity..

Yes, DVLA will now no longer issue a V5C and reg number to an imported vehicle if the vehicle isn't roadworthy.
Although, quite how with the now automated login system, you'll be able to get a MOT on a car with no V5C is another matter...??

Last time I registered an import it had to be insured & MOTd on the VIN before I could apply, was painless after that though.

I thought it was essential to have proof that import duty and VAT have been paid before DVLA will even consider registration in UK.

Yes, this is what the nova form proves, I’m not sure how Kingston shipping can provide that without the original documents.
