Fitted new B&M deep sump pan to my transmission, followed instructions to torque to no more than 12 - 13 lb/ft (actually did 11 - lb/ft with a proper low range torque wrench) and the @#$!ing gasket split!

Obv going to get new gasket, but have a choice of another B&M cork one or a thinner Fram black one - which one?

Also any suggestions at what torque settings I should use?

Yours, hair-matted with ATF,

Keith.

The Fram ones are fine, you do have to be careful doing them up, alternatively UAS Imports ( I think) do Cometic gaskets which are the best out there bar non.

I had that happen to me, bought a Fel Pro gasket and although cork was twice as thick and didn't split.
