After selling a Breitling Navitimer, and possibly selling another, I have a hole burning in my pocket. I want a smart, sporty chrono. White/silver dial and black strap. The Omega Speedmaster doesn't appeal, nor does anything aviation styled (I have many aviation type watches).
So I keep arriving at the TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 or the Day Date. I've had several Carreras in the past (41mm), but these 2 below are much fresher.
I'm 35 by the way, so classical stuff doesn't appeal so much.
Please help me choose between them:

Its very hard for me to choose between them, but I haven't been to an AD to compare the two side by side!

These are from SwissWatchesDirect. Any feedback ?

I'd go for the 1887 myself, though would happily settle for the day/date.

You really need to try before you buy though, especially for that kind of money. I'd be prepared to drive some distance if it meant that I'd be able to remove any doubt from my mind.

The latter, no question. The first is way to busy on the dial, the second is much prettier! thumbup

True - the 1887 is much simpler and slightly more legible. The Day Date I know has double AR crystal, but not sure about the 1887.
One thing I don't like about white/silver dials is that the hands sometimes don't contrast.
Breitling (for example) fit darker hands to their silver dials. I hope TAG
follow a similar practice...

The only thing that holds me back from the 1887 is that it will be superseded by this:

which i actually prefer!

Have TAG development the 1887 themselves?

The subdial layout, case size and overall price suggest to me that the ebauche is the same as a c.16 (ETA 7750). Although the rotor and bearing assembly is different....

It appears to be based on Seiko design.

I like the 1887 of the two.
