...from someone who is a) in the know and b) isn't trying to 'nick' it! I just want to get the correct values for insurance purposes.

1984 stainless steel GMT Master (not a GMT11), mine since 2001, serviced by Rolex in 2005 (£450) and barely worn since. One tiny chip in the bezel but otherwise mint. It has the black outer ring and not the red and blue. Serial is in the 8380000 range. No papers as the company I bought it from went scat, but I have the Rolex service certificate. It's a 16750 btw. I have it insured for £4200 which I think is generous.

1967 Date-Just which is proving harder to pin a value on. Stainless steel with metallic blue face, serial number in the 2390000 range. In fact, it's identical to the one below - is £2000 a reasonable valuation? No papers, but it really is like new, unmarked with a nice tight strap. I've worn it perhaps twice in 10 years.

Funnily enough, I have an 86 GMT and a later Datejust.

I'd say about £3K and £1.5-£1.7k would be their realistic sale prices, but as it would cost more to buy from a dealer I'd add 20% on to that for an insurance "replacement value"

Cheers

Is your policy new for old? If so then you might use the new price for similiar watches?

Thanks Gents.

Datejusts aren't that rare - I bought this one because I liked the look of it. The GMT is quite a rare one - it was either that or a Submariner because I didn't want the blue and red bezel. £3k is on the low side for one in this condition - £3500 maybe nearer.

I have a similar watch but a 1995 GMT 1, I have been keeping an eye on values as I am thinking of trading up to a Daytona.

Buyer do prefer full provenance including all the paperwork, however if you had it serviced It should fetch between £3,000 and £3,500
