So I'm going to the UAE to visit a friend and I was thinking this might be a good chance to pick up the wife's 30th B'day present. She wants a rolex oyster perpetual, model no 176200 in blue... (yes she has been VERY specific!)

I was thinking that it might be a fair bit cheaper over there? has anyone got any experience of this? or know of anywhere i could compare prices?.... or even know of anywhere a bit closer to home where i might find a new, legitimate bargain?

I priced up a Sub a few years ago and it worked out about the same as the UK. Diamonds are what to buy in UAE.

Been through twice this month, more expensive than than UK...

Order that model to the Rolex dealer at the UK airport and pick it up tax free and maybe a little discount on top.

Best way.

Or you could try Dom H, see what he could do.

I priced a Deepsea and a Daytona in Dubai in March and they were more expensive than UK for sure.

if you want anything pricing, i am likely going to dubai mall later. i think the exchange rate has swung in your favour recently. it was 5.8dhs to 1 a few months ago, now 6.1ish

Agreed - Dubai is no bargain when it comes to Rolexes but you can sometimes get rarer models. I've always bought mine in the Caribbean at half decent prices and plenty of availability.

Amazing collection of horology stores though, all in that one shopping mall.

guys, even topman is more expensive here. cars and petrol is cheap, most other things aren't as there are enough people for whom paying for luxury items isn't an issue. haven't needed a big ticket item yet so not sure if haggling gets you anywhere.
