Vintage Tudor Oyster Royal - help

I'm in Newcastle on business and have just walked past a s/h jeweller that has one of these in the window. It's in gold (plate I think), on a leather strap for £249 and looks to be in good condition.

It looks much like these pics:



BUT IN GOLD!

Does anyone have any ideas on value / likely price to be paid / info on the watch.

I am after a dress watch and it somehow caught my eye....

I didn't get a chance to go back unfortunately. I am back in Newcastle in June so will see if it is still there and examine it if so. Thanks for the replies though.
