Submariner 'courtesy watch' what to buy??
Discussion
I'm thinking of treating my 16610 to a service and overhaul at Rolex, it's been worn daily since 2003 so is has picked up lots of swirl marks and the odd ding or 3.
Obviously it will be away for a while so I am looking for a watch to wear while it's away and I may wear it when the Sub comes back for day to day use. I know this may sound naff but I quite like the Marcello C Submariner lookalikes or even a Precista PR-S 18 LE, I would have around £300 to spend on new or used - I do like the idea of a similar looking watch without going down the fake route.

Try www.steinhartwatches.de , there are a few of us on here that have them
This would be wear I would be going for I wanted a Submariner-a-like. Personally I wouldn't be buying something else quite so similar, but each to their own.

Don't forget servicing prices have gone up, so that plus another watch at ~£300 is a fair whack of money!

O/T But CardShark, is your name referencing Red Hot Chili's lyrics?

Nah, I used to play a lot of poker, I don't have anything RHCP wise. I was quite handy (if you pardon the pun) but I didn't play at high enough stakes to buy myself anything decent watch wise out of it

I did gather that could be another possibility!
Was just listening to the album 'By the Way' as I read your reply and heard your name coming out of my stereo!

Am liking the look of the pepsi GMT lookalikey on the Steinhart website, I'm aware of the costs, on getting my Sub back I don't intend to use it every day and therefore try to keep it in a better condition than I have done to date so I'm looking for a decent day to day watch with a similar feel and look

If you send it to Bill Rice and it will be away for only 4 weeks (or less) and it will be serviced to Rolex standards and guidelines and will be a lot less too.Save you buying a spare if you can make do with your phone while it's away?
