Anyone used this site and retailer ? Any good or bad reviews ? Any pros and cons of buying from across the pond ? (taxes etc ?).

In work so haven't got time to trawl through searches at the moment !!

Any info appreciated smile

I've used Chrono24 a couple of times, once buying a watch from a shop in Taiwan and the other a private seller in Germany.
They both had the 'trusted seller' mark against them and I have to say the transactions were excellent. It's always a bit worrying sending money "up front" to shops and people you don't know but I took the risk that these guys based on their good history. Chrno24 is great for getting the best deal with many sellers selling the same watch so you can pitch them against each other via email.

I have no experience of Jomashop though.

Just watch import duty from the states.
Otherwise chrono24 is just a clearing house, so as ever, due diligence on the seller.
I've bought pretty much all my stuff from the US, Italy, Australia, Europe and South Africa from eBay etc with no glitches so far.

I am no expert but I have had to pay import duty a couple of times and I think it was equivalent to the amount of VAT you would pay if you had bought the item here (ie 20%).

Being a % of the declared value of the goods on the shipping order, it is in your interest to have the lowest value on the shipping order, however, that can cause problems if it goes missing as the insurance will only be for the value specified.

I am sure I read somewhere that if you assume you will end up paying (if you get hammered for tax and postal fees) in GBP£ the amount the item was sold for in USD$ you wont be far wrong. Then again I could be just completely silly It has been a tough week.
