Rolex buying and using advice please
Discussion
Hi
I am looking to purchase an Rolex Dateadjust for around £1800 with box and papers.
Comes totally original and is a late 80s model with acrylic glass. Its the single rice strap and the white gold bezel.
Is that a fair price or overpriced?
Also will it stand up to normal everyday use?
Is there anything in particular to look for?
Thanks
sam

Can't comment on the price, but I've had a date-just on my wrist for 10 years it's still as good as new.
It's worn for work, play, gardening, car washing and any other interest you can think of.
Mine is a blue face, SS and a lovely watch and worth every penny.

I could do with a bit of Rolex help- is there a reasonable "Dummies Guide" to models anywhere?
I have to have this in my life http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/datejust--id17908... but it's a slightly scruffy example- not that I'm too bothered as it would be a daily- stretched bracelet, lack of papers.... I can probably cope- unless that'a a daft thing to do. But then is that commensurate with this price? Or is the price also a reflection of the marmite-ness of the colour scheme?
I saw Dom H gave some basic things to look at in this recent thread http://www.chrono24.com/en/rolex/datejust--id17908...
Are there any other words or wisdom (or does anyone know if a better example- higher price is probably fine- within reason of course!)

Those links show pictures of a bimetal Submariner ?
Just realised this was aimed at me! Yes, it does, that's the seller for you I guess...Anyway question stands but clearly on a different model- if I want a bi-metal (blue & yellow) sub, in good nick (ideally akin to the one pictured, but not described IN that advert), what sort of price should I look at paying? Clearly, it won't be the price the seller in my link above is showing that datejust at...!
