Any good? I just bought this one on a whim from eBay today for a score. It's the Krug Baumen Adventurer 1916km:

How much?
Watches2u seem to offer them at a "discounted" price quite often.

Tell me you didn't spend over £50 on it.

£20, whether that's good or not, I've no idea. I've seen them cheap on the website you mentioned..however, I've also seen them on the Krug Baumen website for £450 what's all that about? cool

That's a relief.

It's just their marketing ploy.

Used to be sold by blokes in Silver Mercs on petrol station forecourts and supermarket car parks, they'd use the old classics like "I've just done a delivery to a local jewellers and I've got one left I need to get rid of" "these retail at £500 but you can have it for £50" etc. etc. £20 is alright if you like the watch but they're not a high value retail item.

Ha ha I can picture the "wanna buy a watch" scenario, the dodgy geezer in the sunglasses and camel-hair coat.

Anyway I like the look of it and for a score even if It's pile of pony, no drama.

Despite the cheapness, are these watches any good? I'm hoping it will be cool

thumbup Nice one Ron, I can't say we've exactly the same taste but it sounds like it's put a smile on your face so all is good!

Who knows, if it falls apart in a few weeks no one would be too surprised; but it could float around for years with not a hint of tetchiness.

Good luck either way smile

I brought one of these approx 15 yrs ago from forementioned man in a merc on a garage forecourt.

Cant remember exact price but was about £20-30 I think.

Couple of batteries later and its still jogging along fine.

Bought one from the bay of fleas many years ago, looked okay (ish) told the time (ish), and carried on working 'till the battery went flat.

Still got it and as a cheap piece of flash I quite like it. £20 sounds like an okay price as well.

I had two of these when I first started working. I think I paid £70 for the two of them. To be fair they were a sturdy watches that got battered and worked fine. I still have the silver one somewhere.

Yeah, well, certainly, you could buy a handful of Seikos and be prepared to bin them if they do go wrong or buy one Rolex and have to "service" it every couple of years for a cost of 5 Seikos. Depends why you want a specific watch as that's the only thing making a Rolex worthwhile buying over a £5 Casio!
