I think I know the answer to this already but is there anything I can do for the following situation?

Paid for a watch from an American resident and member of WUS. Looked at his past posts he is a genuine enthusiast with plenty of buys and a very nice collection is a member for over two years and has a nearly 2 posts a day everage.

His Pms very polite and very encouraging. Until I paid then nothing. Its been three weeks now and no sign of the watch and he is not replying to any PMs Paid by bank transfer

So basically I am screwed?

First time Ive ever had a problem like this I must have done more than 50 transactions on watch forums all went smooth including watches both from the states and further a field frown

Can you not register as someone new and make contact claiming to want to buy. Befriend and try and get more contact details.
IIR, bank transfer is irreversible.

Could be on holiday, sick, honeymoon? There's always hope! Good luck!

I've bought watches from the US and I don't get worried till 4 weeks has gone by.

Lack of contact is a worry though.

Is he still posting on a regular basis on the forum? Maybe some personal matter has arisen and he is not spending time online at the moment?

Hope you get it sorted out OP.

Not good frown

If he is a regular poster on the WUS forums, then there is a chance that another forum member might know him off-forum and/or are in contact with him on a regular basis. I'd post up a topic on WUS explaining the situation, asking whether anyone knows what has happened to him. As Rog said, he might be in hospital unwell, caught up in a family emergency or having issues with his computer ... or something!

Has he been posting on the forums after payment was sent or has he gone completely quiet? Was there a large amount of cash involved?

That is what is worrying me. Whenever I sell a watch I always PM when I have shipped( usualy with a tracking number). and then to ask if they got it and were happy.

I have tracked down his phone number tonight but I will wait a few more days.

I am going away myself soon so if he has not shipped it and it turns up when I am away what happens then?

will have to phone teh bank about teh transfer being reversable. Something tells me its not that streight forward.

Sorry chap but it looks like you might have been done. I bought a piece of professional broadcast equipment from a specialist audio site in the US a few years back. Same OM - polite emails, very knowledgeable seller, knew all the parlance and which version of the software it was running etc - paid via bank transfer and never heard a peep again. After doing some digging it turned out this guy was a convicted fraudster with a trail of ripped off buyers all over the world.

Hope it works out for you and this bloke is just indisposed temporarily but your gut feeling is probably right on this. Never, ever send money via bank transfer to a stranger, especially abroad. I learnt the hard way. mad

he has not logged in for over a week (you can see on their profiles on that site)
I suppose the only thing I can so is hope for the best frown there may well be a good reason.

perhaps I am worrying too much.

ps last week I ordered some sunflower seeds from the states they arrived on Monday. I gave the guy enough for fast shipping.

I wouldn't worry yet.

As a rule of thumb, WUS sellers that ship over the pond are all good eggs. I had a $50 snotter refunded that didn't turn up.

Google his username, folk tend to use the same name everywhere.

Was he sending PMs from work (work hours) maybe he's on holiday, it is that time of year.

Paypal is ideal for things like this.
