I have this watch in at the moment and for the life of me i cannot find much info about it. As a goldsmith i should be able to find something but it seems the Piaget marque isnt that well documented with regards to solid 18ct models. Does anyone here have any info that may help me with regards to value, age and history?

Some info to get you started.

Piaget Automatic with numbers on the back of the case: 13601 B 11. 106801
Hallmarked 750 18ct yellow gold.
Sold 18ct yellow gold strap.
18ct gold face with blue / black hands.
Calendar date function.
Immaculate condition bar a few light surface scratches.

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Probably 1970's/early 80's, with very limited appeal. I've scrapped a few of these (Piaget/Jaeger/Baume Mercier) 18ct integral bracelet dress watches, as the gold value was more than I could have hoped to sell them for. You could try the auction houses, but the high commission (c20% or so) adds to the costs heavily...

Hope this helps.

Thanks mate. Been doing some research and it seems there is very little info out there. I could scrap it with the customers permission but having seen £15k asking figures for subordinate models im keen to push for a better price for him. I know i wont get near £15k for him, or possibly even £10k but it does seem to be a bit of a specialist item so maybe the right buyer is out there, maybe not.

My watchmaker is back in on tuesday so maybe he'll know more. What i do know is that its not fair to scrap it as its in an as new (bar the minor scrathches) condition and it would be a great shame. Heres hoping someone here knows a thing or two about them.

Unfortunately, I reckon Dom H has the best advice anyone can provide.

He is a watch dealer after all!

It's probably a really nice movement in an expensive case but very limited appeal really so unless you get lucky with a buyer who will appreciate it as is I'd tend to agree with Dominic and look at the scrap value, shame though that may seem.

Update. Took it down to my local prestige watch specialist on saturday after giving them a light polish and clean. The sales girl couldn't believe the condition of the watch and although we agreed it needed a service (scratchy movement) they offered £1750 scrap or £5000 px against a £10000 rolex they had that I fancied. Research by them found its approx replacment value was around £15k.

That's a pretty good p/x value Eddie, I'd opt for that option.

Movement is a 12PC movement if that makes any sense to anyone. 1960's possibly as a follow on to the 12P ultra thin. Still have no idea what the model is, though i have a suspicion it might be part of the Altiplano range, but i cannot see this one in the list. I have written to Christies as recommended by Piaget London so maybe they can help somewhere.

Is it not worth chuckin in the back of a draw and seeing what happens to the market? Fashion is so cyclical I would not be suprised to see this "style" being more popular agian in the not so distant future? I remember in the late 80's my dad chucking in a S/S Sub for a Cellini... fool

Turns out the watch is a 1964 12PC, part of the record breaking 'ultra-flat' range. This one was a custom design with the fitment of a tighter weave strap and round 18ct dial. Valued in for replacement between £15'000 and £20'000.

The customer is taking an offer on it today.
