Rolex Submariner Date - what's it worth?
Discussion
I suppose that however I word this it's going to look like a shameless ad for my watch. I'm thinking of selling my Sub 16610 that I've had from new, it's a 2003, that's been worn daily and never serviced. The dilemma is do I service it and then sell it, or sell it as is - watch is dirty, bezel has seized and there are plenty of swirls and dints - will the cost of the service be exceeded by it's value post service?
The cost of the service is probably less relevant than trying to find a buyer at all with it in used, unserviced condition as you describe it.
Bearing in mind you're talking a LENGTHY delay from Rolex at the moment (there was a thread a page or two back- 6 months rings a bell), any buyer will want sufficient discount to justify paying now, then not being able to wear it for that length of time, along with an unknown bill at the end!
Aaaaaaaaaaahm oot!

Will try and sort some pics later, its probably not as bad as I've made it out to be. I still can't decide whether to keep hold of it or not, the way the values are going it seems foolish to part with it but I've just got bored wearing it, maybe when it came back from a service all nice and shiny it would reignite my love for it.
Mine was serviced by R. Talerman before I bought it. I would only buy one in good condition and probably wouldn't consider yours in the condition you state it's in.. I think Russell would be quicker than Rolex although no less professional.
