Curiosity got the better of me now I need a local watchman
Discussion
Hi Guys.
Whilst changing straps over on one of my watches curiosity got the better of me and I decided to flip the back off one of my vintage pieces to see what the motor looked like. So far so good the back comes off and inside is a nice shiny movement. I look at it and admire the rotor as it spins round. I ponder on the work and thought that went into designing such a piece. I try to imagine what stories this watch could possibly tell about it's owner(s) over the past 40 odd years if it could talk. After a few moments of appreciating the vintage air that has escaped from my vintage timepiece I decide its time to put the back on......
.....can I f
k?!?! After 5 minutes I think it obvious needs a bit of force and I'm just a southern shandy drinking softie. So I line up the back put the watch between both my hands and give it a good squeeze. "pop" cool. The back is on I can relax. Open my hands....
.....is it f
k?!?! The back falls off into my hand and staring up at me is a shattered glass face. Remember that feeling you got as a child when you did something you know in your heart of hearts you shouldn't have done is now returning to me. That feeling that you should have left it well alone to begin with and when you didn't leave it well alone you should have realised you didn't have a clue what you were doing and left the recoverable mess that you were left with. That feeling that if you just prayed and prayed that you could somehow fix it and it'll be your little secret between you the watch and God which was very quickly replaced by the feeling that you've used up all your Godly favours for the week now you've well and truly f
ked it.
So with that feeling now back with me and a laughing girlfriend in the background I'm in need of a watchman that can A) put the back on the back of my watch and B) replace the crystal. I'm in the Reading area so all suggestions (and mockings) appreciated.

Lol - it's a 40 year old watch, not a vase from ancient Rome. If you want stories from 1971 it's probably easier to watch re-runs of Steptoe and Son than wreck your watch!Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
